In 1986, following the success of Kerry Turner’s Quartet #1, the horn teacher at the Dudelange Regional Music School in Luxembourg asked the composer to write a piece for his class, which was mainly comprised of younger players. Since then, this piece has become surprisingly popular around the world. The folk song upon which serves as the main theme is “Du brauchst mir näischt ze schwieren” (rough translation: there’s no need to promise me).
This quartet could either be performed as a quartet or in a mass horn choir setting.
